Tyrone Muhammad

Tyrone F. Muhammad is a dedicated social change advocate, author, entrepreneur, and founder of Ex-Cons for Community and Social Change (ECCSC). With deep insight into the challenges faced by formerly incarcerated individuals, he has committed his life to helping them reintegrate into society and become productive citizens. Tyrone has developed and led programs focused on behavior modification, emotional intelligence, financial literacy, and job readiness to reduce recidivism and promote self-sufficiency.

He co-founded the Education Justice Project (EJP) with the University of Illinois, providing incarcerated students access to higher education and opportunities to earn college degrees. His work focuses on creating meaningful second chances and transforming lives through education and empowerment.

Through ECCSC, Tyrone champions public safety, workforce development, and social justice by building employment pipelines in industries such as cannabis, security, staffing, and property maintenance. His book, Men on the Inside, is featured in college law, sociology, and criminology programs, while his radio show, “The Frontline Show,” engages communities in real-time dialogue on critical social issues.

Tyrone’s fearless, judgment-free outreach—reaching deep into neighborhoods and trap houses—distinguishes him as a leader and visionary in the movement for justice, equity, and community transformation.
